Climate change: the biggest threat on humanity, part-1
Hello future scientists, I am your Uncle Globe, back again.
Today I am going to tell you about a serious issue, The Climate Change.
You all probably heard the term “Global Warming” and some of you already know what global warming is but let me explain it to you again. You know, there are some countries with very cold weather where harvesting of vegetables are near impossible. So, scientists invented a way to harvest plants. They made a house using glasses or transparent plastics which can trap heat coming from the sunlight. It allows sunlight to come inside the house but don’t let the reflected sunlight go outside so now the heat of that sunlight is trap inside the greenhouse. Using this method allowed farmers from every corner to grow summer vegies in winter also. This method is known as “Greenhouse Harvesting”.
Now, there are some gases in our atmosphere act as the glass or plastic of a greenhouse which can trap heat coming as sunlight. These gases are called “Greenhouse Gas”, carbon dioxide, methane, ozone, nitrous oxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and water vapor are some well-known greenhouse gases. Most of the greenhouse gases are come from using fossil fuel, such as petrol, diesel, coal etc. these gasses form a layer in higher atmosphere which let the sunlight pass through it but don’t allows it to pass when the sunlight reflects and come back, this is called the greenhouse effect. This is how global warming is happening. The last 10 years was the hottest decade in 125000 years. Carbon dioxide is at its highest level in 2million years. This global warming is causing the huge melting of glaciers which produces most of the fresh water and influencing the sea level go higher year by year. So, now I think you are understanding how serious this issue is. Even this is just a tip of the huge iceberg.
Today’s discussion has come to an end. In the next part we
will discuss it further. This is your uncle globe signing off for now, see you
soon.
