The Sun, The Light & Time Travel

Hello, future scientists. Uncle Globe is back again with interesting facts. Today we will learn about our nearest star Sun and. Let’s start.

You all know how big the sun is..!! it is so big that it can fit 1300000 of myself, the Earth. And it’s surface is 5726.67 degree Celsius which is almost 4x higher than the melting point of Iron means it can melt the Iron 4x faster. But do you know that the atmosphere of the sun which is called Corona, is much more hotter than the surface? Yes, it is true, the atmosphere is approximately 300x-500x hotter that the surface of the sun. Because the air around the sun acts like liquid, and as liquids releases heat slowly than gases or solids, it gets much hotter. This thing is better for me and you all, cause, as you just get informed that the liquid releases heat slowly, it makes the sunlight much cooler than if the liquid starts releasing heat same rate as the gases. Now let me quickly tell you an amusing fact, there is a little insect named “Mantis Shrimp” which can produce heat as much as the surface of the sun just by striking it’s scissor like claw. It uses this ability to kill it’s pray, How fascinating..!!

We all know that the Sun gives us light and it is by far the brightest object you can see from myself, the earth. But do you know how bright the sun is? As the sunlight reaches to you, it has the brightness about 127000 lumens/ square meter. “Lumens/ Square meter is the unit of brightness. You see, I told that “as the sunlight reaches to you…” means actual brightness of the initial sunlight is much more higher than the sunlight reaches to you, it’s because the sunlight takes about 8 minutes to reach to the earth, your uncle globe. So for 8 minutes the light is traveling through the space where it looses it’s heat which decreases the brightness of the sunlight. Now you know that the sunlight takes 8 minutes to get to you. So if somehow the sun get destroyed then it will take us 8 minutes to see that incident, but if you travel faster than the light and get to the half way between the sun and myself, the earth, you can witness that incident before others from the earth could see it. That means you just travelled to the future, you just Time Travelled.

This is the end of today’s learning. New things are coming soon so stay tuned.
