Time Travel is Not What You Think, part-1
Hello future scientists, I am your Uncle Globe, back again
with new interesting informations. Today we are going to learn about time
travel in details and will see If time travel is even possible or not? let’s start.
In time travel light is very important because light is the thing that allows us to see everything, even time. You all faced load shedding atleast once, what happens? Suddenly the room is full of dark, you can’t even see your own hand. So obviously you can’t see the wall clock. That means you can’t see the time and you don’t know the time. And now try to remember how you get to know for how long the lights were off? Obviously when the lights come back you see the time and calculates the time of load shedding. Imagine the light never comes back, then what will happen? You never know what the time is. Only when the sun rises next day morning then you’ll able to know the exact time. So, to know about time we 1st have to be able to see and to be able to see we need light. Now we can conclude that, what we see is the present, what we have seen and can’t see it as before again but only can remember is the past, and what we are going to see but can assume is the future. So, now I think you have understood why light is very important in term of time travel.
In previous article “The Sun, The Light & Time Travel” I
mentioned a little bit of time travel, but I know it was not much satisfying.
Actually real time travel is far less satisfying than the kind of time travel
we see in cartoons and movies. In movies and cartoons you see some characters are
travelling through time easily like going through one door to another but in
reality you can’t do that. 1stly let’s learn about how travel to the future.
It is kind of possible that you could travel to the future with your body but it is really bizarre. Imagine a person has gone to the prison for 30 years and he haven’t seen the outside world for this long 30 years. So when he will come out of that prison the outside world would be completely changed and would be completely new to him, then we can say he has travelled to the future. Yeah, I know it sounds shockingly boring but in real time travel perspective plays a huge role. In another example imagine yourself as an astronaut and suppose you have gone outside of myself, the earth, to the nearest black hole. We learn earlier that gravity near black hole is too high and in Einstein’s “Theory of Relativity” we learnt that, the higher the gravity is, the slower the time gets. So when you are near the black hole your time is going slow compared to the others on me, the earth. Means you won’t realize that your time has passing slow, you will see it as normal 1sec, 1min, 1hour or 1day, but back on earth your 1sec can be 1 min, 1min can be 1hour, 1hour can be 1day and 1day can be a whole 1year. So when you come back home you will see your mom and dad as old as your grandparents are now on and your friends will be the same age as your uncle aunty are now on. Einstein gave statement in his "Theory of Relativity" that the faster you travel the slower your time will be, means, if you travel faster than others then you time will get slower compared to others. To know if it's true or not there was an experiment that used two clocks set to the exact same time. One clock stayed on Earth, while the other flew in an airplane going in the same direction Earth rotates. After the airplane flew around the world, scientists compared the two clocks. The clock on the fast-moving airplane was slightly behind the clock on the ground. So, the clock on the airplane was traveling 1sec slower than the clock on the ground.
Ok friends, this is the end of our learning today. In next
article we will talk about how travel to the past. Good bye, see you soon.
